Bowdon and Leicester City - with the support of Wapping - lodged an Appeal Notice in respect of the decision made in respect of concluding the 2019/20 season that was confirmed by the England Hockey Board on 28 April. The Appeal was then stayed to enable a process of alternative dispute resolution to take place. No resolution was reached and so the Appeal proceeded.

The first official Alumni for Australia’s national men’s and women’s hockey teams, the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos, have been established. Hockey Australia, together with a host of current and former players, have driven the initiative to connect and reconnect those who have donned the green and gold at senior level in field hockey for their country.

Queenslander John Dwyer is the oldest living member of the Australian men’s hockey team that competed at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne.

A talented goalkeeper, John won three Best and Fairest player awards throughout his career and was known for his style of playing as much as possible from the top of the Dee and for his long, accurate clearances with either foot.

He considers one of the highlights of his career winning the Noall Shield for national supremacy with Queensland in 1954 with victories over New Zealand (2-1), South Australia (1-0), Western Australia (2-1), Tasmania (4-0), and New South Wales (6-2). The only loss was a 1-0 defeat to Victoria.

John represented Queensland every year from 1951-1958.

The Hockeyroos and the Kookaburras are scheduled to resume their FIH Pro League 2020 campaigns in April 2021 after the revised fixture for the postponed global competition was announced.

The FIH confirmed the remaining schedule for the men's and women's competitions of the 2020 FIH Hockey Pro League which was halted back in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
